The Hoary live CD is a complete, ground-up redesign compared to the Warty
live CD. It has several features that the Warty CD lacks, but it is also
missing a few that the Warty CD has (splash screen, mounting partitions,
etc.). Hoary entered feature freeze about a month ago, and there wasn't
time to implement every feature that we would have liked.

The Hoary live CD works on a much wider range of hardware than the Warty
live CD, and in my opinion, this alone offsets the few features which didn't
make it into the release.

This is on the list for the release following Hoary. I already have a
pretty good idea how it should work; it just needs to be specified,
implemented and tested.
