Ubuntu H/W Database : can't send data ?

When you go in the device manager, you can click on that button on the
bottom lef tof the windo, to send detauls about your H/W configuration
to Ubuntu. At fist, it was not working, just in its infancY. But I gave
it another try 2 minutes ago, much improved, but it seems unable to send
the data. right now it's still trying to send the data, I get an
animation (sort of progress bar that goes left to right back and forth),
but it's been sitting there for 5 minutes now.

during the process, it tested the network connection, by "pinging" 3
times. I noticed that the first ping got a green check mark, but the
last two got a red cross. Is it just the Ubuntu server having problems ?
Is it just me ?
