Please help a Linux newbie!

I adviced him to reload the sources list in order to get the samba and 
the samba-common package on the same version, which was the problem in 
this case.

For help with setting up simple shares and a print server have a look at 
the Samba HowTo found in /usr/share/doc/samba-doc, Chapter 7.
