Please help a Linux newbie!

Actually, could you keep this topic on-list?  I would be interested in 
what to do also as I will finally be setting up my home network next 
week.  (Between 2 MacOS X systems, 1 Ubuntu/WinXP/Debian Testing/Gentoo 
system, and 1 MacOS X/Ubuntu system).
Also, for the person who posted this, you should probably use a more 
descriptive subject line next time.  Some people may only be 
knowledgeable in certain areas and may only reply to those kinds of 
e-mails.  A perfect subject line for this would've been "SMB networking 
problem (newbie)".  Not a big deal, but it might help you get responses 
:).
