Unable to create video thumbnails?

I currently have mplayer installed with all the correct codecs, however
in nautilus the icons are not becoming thumbnails of the videos.

I've found on the net that I can edit the user.keys file for mime types
to correct this, however in the current build of Gnome that file doesn't
exist.

I've already removed the thumbnails from my .thumbnails directory.

Is anyone able to suggest a possible fix?
