Two modems on one line????

What happens if the external modem is powered off when you try?

In general, internal modems are difficult to deal with because you can't
easily tell what they're doing. Unfortunately for my expertise in this
thread, I've never used them.

I appreciate the "you don't have to remember to switch it on" argument
for wanting to use one, though :-) I just compensate by never switching
off my external modem ...
