high CPU utilization

Hello all

I am running Ubuntu Hoary, and it runs perfect, except that for the past
couple days, my CPU usage is high.
At boot-up, gkrellm is launched, I run beep-media-player, stream music
and then do a 'top'. Xorg, gkrellm, bmp share a load of about 25%.... :/
Doing nothing else but the above.
The box is a P4 2.5Ghz with 1Gb of RAM, nvidia drivers on a GeForce
6600GT. And it's never done that before. It seems that it did that after
some recent Xorg updates?
Has anyone seen that as well?

Thanks

Best,

fred
