you may get this feeling because of the silence of the developers here,
but sound problems are frequent in unix/linux/debian/ubuntu,
probably due to the wide array of hardware available.

of the 45 sound bugs listed, 26 are new, and others are shown
as "need info" when in fact info has been given,
so i guess the developers are currently overwhelmed.
