Indeed.  I held my breath, crossed my fingers and shook two chicken
feet in the direction of the LCD screen and it just worked  ;-)

Seriously, Yes I did manage to avoid the inotify bug, fortunately. 
Just lucky, because I didn't do anything special other that
dist-upgrade at about 6:15 AM EST on February 28.  All went extremely
well, no thanks to any intervention on my part, to be honest.
