You might also want to check out the "saving session" feature. Basically
it'll do its very best to make sure that the programs that are running
at the time you log out will greet you when you log in the next time.
You can turn it on permanently in System->Preferences->Sessions, just
tick "Automatically save changes to session". If you want to make a
choice every time you log out you check "Ask on logout".
