I'm sorry, steve, but that sounds like a personal problem to me. As
others have noted, and notes to which I concur, there is no real /need/
for Winduhs, only a perception. Alter your perceptions and look for
Open Source/cross platform alternatives. Open Office comes to mind.
Needless to say, this does not hold true in an employment environment as
long as /the employer/ is paying for Winduhs. Otherwise there are Open
Source alternatives to almost everything an employer could want.
