thanks for pointing out that libfbclient.so is supposed to be in
/usr/lib/firebird2/lib - that's correct. now that's a community that's
working.
i have read 2 new threads on the quasar mailing list that has got
similar problems with the new quasar 1.4.6 . i wrote my howto on the
earlier 1.4.5
quoting brad peppers of linux canada from the mailing list:
"
I think the problem is permissions on the /opt/quasar/config files.
Try to change them so that they are readable by the "quasar" user. Its
all a side effect of the various ways that have been tried along the way
to allow the quasar_clientd to run as non-root but I think the details
are all worked out now and its just a problem when upgrading. Note also
that the /opt/quasar/data files should also be readable by the "quasar"
user.
"
i am just guessing this - comparing against my setup.
1. change the quasar user group to root from the ubuntu menu >
administration > users and groups.
2. check that /opt/quasar/config and /opt/quasar/data has the root
group permission to read and execute. you can do this by browsing from
the ubuntu menu > places > computer.
i hope this helps.
by the way, i don't have a quasar user setup on my ubuntu.
i will try to get in some time this weekend to upgrade and update
myself to 1.4.6
