What is the best way to connect to the net in Ubuntu?

Isn't there any easy way to connect to the internet in Ubuntu Linux,
like there exists in windows.
I use a modem to dial in to the net. KPPP is good, but is difficult to
configure. I would love a GNOME based dialer having a good interface.
