totem won't play vob files

So, upgrading to Hoary I was hoping that Totem was actually useful now. So far
no go. It just sat there consuming 100% processor resources until I killed it,
trying to play a .vob file from one of my dvds. Xine works beautifully. 

Has anyone found Totem useful?
