Hi Todd
Hi Derryl

Now i got it friends! It's a theme breaking GThumb. If i switch to another
one everything runs as usual.
With this specific theme i get this errors in command line:

rana at ubuntu:~ $ gthumb

(gthumb:10333): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion
`pixbuf ! = NULL' failed
(gthumb:10333): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion
`pixbuf != NULL' failed
** (gthumb:10333): CRITICAL **: gth_image_list_append_with_data: assertion
`pixb uf != NULL' failed

the third line gets repeated around 20 times

Thanks again for thinking on that.
Regards,
René
