Does Kubuntu really need to be it's own distro?

It really is the one distro - at least, it has exactly the same
repositories as Ubuntu.  So it's a matter of semantics whether you call
it Kubuntu or "Ubuntu with a customized KDE installed instead of
Gnome".



Despite this, I'm not really seeing any real division in the
communities, just all the kde specific questions are being diverted to
the Kubuntu forum, #kubuntu IRC and kubuntu mailing lists.
