686-smp freezing

You wouldnt happen to have a SBLive, or turtle beach sound card? I found
those to be incompatible with many SMP boards and cause random lockups
because of irq issues. I have yet to figure out a direct kernel option
that causes it. All I know is that the hardware I used in windows server
2003 locked up regularly on the k7 smp kernel, and I tracked it down to
the combo of my pci secondary video card and sound card combined. That
was the cause for my gdm lockups on startup, the sound server was
playing a sound during screen updating. Maybe try disabling your sound
system and see if lockups still occur.
