DVD burn speeds borked?

Oops, should have said original Nero.

I posted this question to the K3B site over the winter. No response.

I think it's more of a growisofs issue, because if I use the -speed=4 line in 
user parameters, the burns are fine. Slower than it should be capable of, but 
fine.
