XDMCP problems

To all,

I recently installed Ubuntu and absolutely love it!!! I have one big
problem however, and that one is related to XDMCP.

Here is what is going on:

mycomputer:~$ xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
mycomputer:~$ telnet unixhost

[.. login..]

unixhost > export DISPLAY=mycomputer:0.0
unixhost > xterm &

[.. wait ..]

unixhost > xterm Xt error: Can't open display: mycomputer:0.0

So... no xdmcp connection possible? If I am correct, xdmcp uses UDP over
port 117? netstat -a doesn't show this port....

Something else: when being root when I have my display set to ':0.0', I
can vi scripts etc. When I set my display to 'localhost:0.0' I can edit
scripts, but apparently there is some sort of timeout...
Starting a graphical program as root results in an error...
cannot connect to X server localhost:0.0

I have edited the file /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc and removed the
'-nolisten tcp' but without success

Any input on where to look is much appreciated

Kind regards,
Barry
