I need to ask you this: Could you test your USB hard drive with a
Windows system (2000, XP or 2003) and make sure that it works
flawlessly? Because from the above output, your system doesn't see any
partitions on that drive (unless it was assigned another “sd?” device
like “/dev/sdb” or “/dev/sdc” which is possible).
