If you can get to to the Ubuntu archives, look for my previous post on
Monday, May 30th: "Re: Screen Resolution". I posted a lengthy, although
not complete, explanation of how to reconfigure xserver-org to make X
work. You could also do a search for it in Google. It's too lengthy to
repost again. :0)

Before following my instructions, please take the time to research what
the display card is (or the chipset on the motherboard, if built-in). If
built-in, the chipset is not obvious to you or you can't seem to find
it, then look for the stenciled name of the motherboard manufacturer and
board model number. That is usually enough to do a Google search with
and to acquire the information you need to reconfigure X.
