wireless network management

Hello,

I am new to Ubuntu and Linux in general so please excuse the newb 
question. I have googled around but I was unable to find a good answer 
to my question.

Question: I have a wireless card in my machine which is performing 
great. On question is though is when crank up KWifiManager it is showing 
my wireless nic as disabled. It does however show a very strong signal 
strength. Go figure! If I go in and manually designate the eth1(wireless 
nic) to 'any' network it will then show it as enabled.

Is there a way for me to browse available wireless networks and switch 
between them?
