I met a geek on the french Ubuntu chan who found the solution.
1) the /usr/lib/Acrobat5/bin/acroread.sh file has to be modified to
become /usr/lib/Acrobat5/bin/acroread:
$sudo mv /usr/lib/Acrobat5/bin/acroread.sh /usr/lib/Acrobat5/bin/acroread

2) in the first lines you should add '/usr/lib/Acrobat5/Reader' after
install_dir=

#!/bin/sh
#

ver=5.0.10
install_dir=/usr/lib/Acrobat5/Reader
.....
.....

...........................

Then, it lounches allright. Surprise! after reading a pdf document
a few minutes, I wanted to visit the menus, but the GUI got blocked
and after a few minutes, it was still blocked. I killed every process
for running applications, and waited a little. Then I killed Acroread,
as the GUI didn't come back. No mouse responding, nothing, just the
Alt+F consoles available and that's it. The kill of Acroread did not
unblock the GUI either. So not knowing to do better than that, I
rebooted in text mode.

The man who gave me the solution told me that he wrote to the developper
to tell him the mistake in the file scripts. I was wondering if I should
not also write to him to say something goes wrong when using it.

On the other hand, there is a new version available on Acrobat site,
under tarball shape, so I don't know what would be best...

What do you think about it ?
Best greetings, J.Markoll.
