MP3s play at different speeds on different audio programs.

I recently started using Quod Libet, which is a nice Rhythmbox-type
program written in Python with the addition of tagging. It's coming
along nicely and has a lot of potential.
I noticed though that it played my MP3s at a slightly faster speed
(and therefore higher pitch) then Rhythmbox. So I did a few tests and
found that Rhythmbox, Totem , BMP, Xine, XMMS and Zinf, Alsa-Player,
all play at the same speed; while mpg123 (or mpg321) and quod-libet
play slightly faster.
Anyone else experience this? Any ideas as to what could be the cause?
I'm using ALSA.
