Wine installation

Since I want to see if Wine will run some apps for which I don't have 
Linux substitutes, I asked Synaptic Package Manager to install it for 
me. This it did, and there is lots of interesting stuff in 
/usr/share/doc which should help me to make use of it.

But it hasn't popped up in any of the menus. Isn't this how it should 
work ?  Or is there something I should have done and haven't ?  If not, 
how should I run Wine ?
