Ooops sorry Daniel, seem like yu did exatcly what I was trying to do
already, I should take the time to read mails properly... 

I didn't find any option in dpkg that would let me extract files in a
package. I tried 'ar' like you said, but it appears that I don't have
this command on Breezy. I tried to install it, but I can't find it
anywhere. Did you make a typo, is it really 'ar' ? The closest command I
could find would be 'at' (since 't' is just next to 'r' on the
keyboard...), but according to the man page it has nothing to do with
the problem at hand.

It would be great if Synaptic would allow for finding files in packages,
and extract files from packages. Maybe I could file a 'bug' report about
that...
