Done. Thank you, sir. And thank you for your patience; I try to read all
posts throughout a day and certainly I have glanced at that repository
issue, but I never thought it would apply to me.

And I guess 'twm' -- 'the window manager' -- wasn't the window manager that
I was looking for. And yes, I found an example of the little .xinitrc
script on the xinit man page that you mentioned in your first reply. So now
I will try to find out what Cygwin's .xinitrc looks like, find out what
tiny window manager it makes a call to.

Do you happen to know if twm and x-window-manager are indeed the same thing?
I haven't come upon the documentation for it yet, let alone if making the
call to twm is how one calls x-window-manager (thinking out loud).
