Ubuntu PPC Mac Control vs. Command Keys

What's the best/easiest way to swap keyboard control and command keys
in GNOME or xfce? Is there some trick I can use, or do I need to
change an X keymap? KDE has an option called "Mac Style Modifier Keys"
that makes the keyboard in KDE work exactly like on a Mac. A few
months ago I opened a GNOME enhancement bug asking for it

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162510

but it was closed, saying the option belongs in the X server. I've
just started looking through the files in /etc/X11/xkb and I think I
might ultimatelly figure something out, but maybe I'm missing
something really simple.

[Kubuntu is VERY nice implementation of KDE, but it really drags down
the 266 Mhz CPU. I'd really like to use GNOME or especially xfce on my
old Macs but especially when I'm switching between linux apps and MOL
(Mac-On-Linux) apps I get confused about the locations of the control
vs. command key. It "just works" with the settings in KDE.]
