Backup utility in linux

Perhaps it'd be the nicest if users can select (checkmark) dirs and
subdirs they want to back up to a media.

Then, the choice is what media are supported, I'd say: network, local
(second) harddrive, CD, DVD, other removable media like USB-sticks and
-disks, and perhaps remote solutions?

Then, how to perform the backup, a nice rsync-job would be the best,
in that it could make incremental backups thereby saving diskspace and
allowing for more versions to be backed up.
