Is Ubuntu safe to try

I installed it on my XP machine on the 2nd drive with a dual-boot with
absolutely no problems.  The only problems I have had (other than
fiddling with sound for Teamspeak and games) is because I was screwing
around.  The biggest reason I went with Ubuntu over FC (which I have
used before) is that it is easier to maintain and add software,
especially since I wanted to recommend it to non-techies.
