How Ubuntu(liveCD) detect hardware

We have a few modifications, which you can find in the hotplug source
package.

May well just be newer versions of the kernel and hotplug, and we have a
few kernel patches to tell the kernel about additional devices, which
will be exported to hotplug in the usual way. hotplug depends strongly
on the kernel telling it what to do.

Also, last time we looked at it, at least Morphix did not use hotplug as
its primary hardware detection mechanism.
