rubinstein is only my nickname... but I can assure that I am a Mr ;-)
Well, it is a bit complicated, because there is not only one printing
system under linux, but here we go:
For the GIMP:
Did you read the manual for turboprint? Look at
http://turboprint.de/manual/turboprint-7.html under 7.2 Printing from
applications there is a paragraph for settings for the GIMP. I think
you didn't change the printer driver. You have to explicitly change the
printer name to the turboprint printer name. I think the pulldown-menu
should have it. Then follow the instructions in the manual.
Be careful: You have to change a command with the name "lp -s
-dprintername".
Replace printername with the actual name that you gave your
printer-driver.
My command looks like this: "lp -s -dtp-stylus_photo_r200". Notice the
"d".
You only have to do it once, that's also the reason why I don't
remember exactly what I did a few months ago :-)
The GIMP only prints with the settings you make inside the GIMP. And
don't forget to save the settings. Now you should be able to select
borderless formats.
For other applications: I don't know the difference between the 2
methods to change the settings. I use the GNOME-printer-dialog (because
I think it's easier), but either of them should work.
Ah... this is complicated. But once it works, it works.
