PPPoE -> DHCP : how to switch ???

Oh dear...

My ISP is about (anytime this month, maybe as soon as tomorrow), to
increase my connection speed from 64Kbps up to 1024Kbps, for the same
price.
Great I thought. But, I just read on their site, that they have changed
the rules. Currently, I connect to my cable modem using PPPoE. But my
ISP says that when I switch speeds, I will have to connect using DHCP
instead ! Cool, "DHCP", these 4 little letters that sound mysterious and
always scared the hell out of me... now I must face them ! :-/

When I installed Ubuntu, I only had to run 'pppoeconf', enter log-in and
password and 2 seconds later internet was working. What must I change to
switch to DHCP ?
I seem to remember that when I unstalled Warty, at some point, the text
installer tried to connect to internet using DHCP. But I don't want to
re-install Ubuntu, too much work !! :o(

I seem to gather that DHCP could, somehow, connect without even asking
me for my password and log-in, sending the cable modem' MAC address to
the ISP to identify my computer instead ?
The ISP doesn't offer much support for Linux (at least they acknoledge
its existence, so it's better than nothing...), all they say is that I
must remove the PPPoE connection and install a DHCP 'client' instead.
They say that there are many clients and that a popular one is to be
found here : http://www.isc.org/dhcp

Please help me ! Please someone detail all the steps I must do to remove
my PPPoE connection and replace it with DHCP.

Thanks much in advance

Regards,

Vince, scared by DHCP, but looking forward to broadband at last ! :-)
