Ooops.. :-) Gmail has its drawbacks..  
I'll try to remember pushing the reply to all button from now on :-)

I'll try to get the restricted modules from warty. Has ubuntu managed
to get a web-browsable package system as packages.debian.org? Or do I
have to switch to warty for a few seconds?

As for building fglrx, I manage to do it in 2.6.8.1-3-386, but in the
686 versions of the kernels, the symlink to build in
/lib/modules/2.6.8.1-3-686 is missing. I have the matching
kernel-headers deb installed. Perhaps your how-to adresses this?

I'll repost my problem and my results so far later on. Thanks for the
help, it's been nice bugging you so far...  :-)
