OK, here is the latest that I have tried. I have
unplugged the Visor HotSync cradle to see if that
would get rid of the dmesg error. No luck there. While
the Visor shipped with a USB cradle out of the box, I
purchased a serial cable to use with my Mac Powerbook
1400 (no USB). I have now connected the serial cradle
to my Ubuntu box and tried Gnome Pilot again. It could
be my imagination, but it seems that the Gnome Pilot
wizard recognizes the serial cradle, but when I get to
where the wizard tries to retreive the UserName and
ID, the Visor still states that "The connection
between your handheld and the desktop could not be
established (yada, yada, yada)." However, the Visor
seems to spend more time trying to communicate with
Gnome Pilot, when using the serial cradle than the USB
cradle, for whatever that is worth.
Cheers,
Brian
