Hi

I've just tried a warty install and got the Grub Error 18 message on
reboot. The machine I am installing on falls into the category
described in the reported bug i.e. it's a five year old Celeron; it'll
be 6 later on this year :) has a hdd with a reported 15.5 GB under LBA
addressing.

The bug has been reported in bugzilla. There seem to be two options to
go for:

1. re -install using smaller partitions.
2. change from LBA to Auto detect and rerun grub-install '(hd0)' via
chroot from the uinstallation CD.

Ultimately I am going to re-install using smaller partitions so I need
to check whether that works soon.

But ... I am curious to know how one runs chroot from a CD boot prompt?
I can't seem to find anything on the CD help and chroot searched on
the web site gave too much nfo ;)

I have tried changing from LBA addressing to AUTO in the BIOS and got a
change of hw settings reported in the BIOS but with no success at
booting up i.e. still got Grub Error 18 reported.

Am currently running an install with HDD set to AUTO instead of LBA to
see if that improves anything. So far no change in disk size reported
during install and still trying one root and one swap partition.

Impressed by the ease of basic install tho'. Apart from it not booting
up once it is installed of course :)

Regards

Lesley
