I can see nothing!

Hi!

I installed ubuntu on my new Samsung X30 laptop. I got zero errors
during instalation but when it comes to log in I get the whole screen
in this brown ubuntu color but without a text box or equivalent to
write on. I can see nothing!

If i type my user name and password, the screen goes gray and then
white. Yet no further changes ocur. Does anyone knows what is
happening? I revised the XF86config file and everything seems to be
allright.
