Help on customizing LiveCD

I am also interested in creating a custom LiveCD based on Ubuntu.  I tried the
current Hoary LiveCD, found here:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/

It has a rather "interesting" startup procedure for a LiveCD.  So how to
generate/customize these livecd images??
