Oli, now that you have some influence would it be possible to get
something like a server version of Ubuntu? The biggest problem I have
with Ubuntu is that to run on a server I have to completely customize
the thing and I only know just enough to know that I don't know
enough... If that sentence made any sense at all :)

I don't doubt that Ubuntu would be a fine server if it had the right
software, but it seems that Ubuntu was not built with this in mind.
All linuxes have the linux kernel and can have iproute and iptables
installed, but I don't know anything about either...

Any thoughts?
