As someone else said, newer versions aren't always better versions. And
if you really need it, it's almost always better to bug the maintainers
(http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com. -- or for packages in universe:
http://bugs.debian.org/)
Also remember that when a release is "done", packages won't change,
unless there's a security issue, and you have to wait for the next
release.

Why Adobe Reader? xpdf is included, and can do most of the things adobe
can do. If you want it as a plugin in your browser, you can install the
"mozplugger" package.
