amd64 dual core

Hello everyone,

I am considering to purchase a dual processor system, either opteron or athlon 64 bit,
and connecting two 19" tft screens.

What kind of hardware do you recommend that gives least problems installing UBUNTU?
Do I have to recompile kernels etc. to get dual processor-system to work (either on opteron940 or tyan dual athlon system) and can I expect problems in using two monitors?
