Mozilla Thunderbird

Hi everyone,
I agree with Gill on this issue. I was very pleased to find Ubuntu
uses Firefox as its web browser and am a bit confused as to why
Evolution is used when another great Mozilla alternative is available.
I use Thunderbird as my default mail program under both Windows XP and
Mac OS X and plan to install Thunderbird on Ubuntu when I get round to
it.
Is there any particular reason why Evolution was chosen as the
standard. It does seem a pretty heavy weight solution (a groupware
application) to a pretty lightweight problem (email).
