non-root scanner

Hi everybody
I have a canon FB330P flatbed scanner for the parallel port and it kinda
works. That is, it works as root but not as my regular user (called sh):

sh at laptop ~ $ scanimage -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
sh at laptop ~ $ sudo scanimage -L
Password:
device `canon_pp:parport0' is a CANON FB330P flatbed scanner

The user (sh) is part of the scanner group, so I don't really know what
else to tell you guys except that I'm using Hoary.

Hope you can help me,
Søren
