It will affect every MUA because the reply to the sender won't work anymore.

To the question if any officials read here. Sure they do and I think 
they feel bored in this question and don't want to be part of such a 
discussion.
Have a look in the archives of this list. I am pretty sure that at least 
one official has commented in the past.
