I think it will take much more than a few bits and bobs to compete with
DW sadly.

As much as I dislike KDE apps, I just installed Quanta 3.2 from
Synaptic, and I must say I am quite impressed with the functionnality
and speed/responsiveness. And 3.3 is already out. I think in a year or
two, it may really be up to DW standards. Then, I dream that the Gnome
team would take the source code, and modify it to make a Gnome version
of it. Using Gtk2 widgets and Gnome icons etc.

Time will tell :-)
