IBM ThinkPad T42 ACPI suspend woes

Hello, I just tried the Warty live cd in my new Thinkpad T42.  

I couldn't get the resolution to exceed 1024x768.  When I selected a
higher resolution, the screen "freaked out."
I know my ATI resolution goes to 1400x1050.  (It's 1400x1050 in the
default shipped Windows XP settings.)

Has anyone had issues/successes with screen resolution on Thinkpad T42.

NOTE: I haven't tried the Warty installer yet, just the live cd...
