Setting up a PCI SCSI\RAID Controller for my tape drive!

Hey all,

I am trying to set up a DPT PM2044W PCI RAID\SCSI adapter to work with ubuntu so that I can backup files to an SCSI HP C1533A DAT8 internal tape drive. Does anyone have any advice for doing this?

Please note that I know nothing about SCSI devices; I have only used IDE HDDs and IDE CDROM drives before, so if there is anything that you think a SCSI newbie might be doing wrong 1st time, please feel free to point it out! All I know is that I set the SCSI ID of the tape drive to 3 using jumpers on the rear of the device.

I can't find drivers or anything for the pci card and I dont know whether I will need additional drivers for the tape drive itself, or if support for "generic tape drives" is built in to Ubuntu.

I hope to use something like AMANDA or AFBackup to backup onto the tapes if\when I can get this set up!

Thanks for your time,

Ben Hodgson
