I don't think you are hacked. It looks like your mouse is not working
correct anymore. I had a similar problem with my mouse. I had to add a
parameter to the psmouse kernel module to get the mouse working. I don't
know if it is the same issue on your box. But here are my changes:
In the file /etc/modules add " proto=imps" to the line which starts with
psmouse. now, modules will look like this (my mouse is a PS/2 mouse):
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments begin with
# a "#", and everything on the line after them are ignored.
psmouse proto=imps
mousedev
ide-cd
ide-disk
ide-generic
lp
