Confused Newbie: CD-RW as SCSI Device in Warty?

Without knowing the error messages, it's kinda tough to determine your problem.

Under Warty's kernel, k3b must be run as root. 

>From a terminal, try starting it with:

gksudo k3b

Then supply YOUR password when prompted. See if it works then.
