java ant missing

This is a little issue that has annoyed me a few times, that
libant1.5-java and libant1.6-java is available in the repositories,
but not the ant package. I wonder what is the reason for this?

I have set up a few ubuntus lately at work, and we do a great deal of
java development. Each time I install ant, I  have to download
ant_1.6.2-2_all.deb from packages.debian.org in order to get ant up
and running..

Does it really have to be this way, or have I missed something?
